The ability to perform in unusual
or difficult conditions is a must for a world class contractor. In the examples shown here,
we see some projects which test the contractor's abilities and resourses.
Clinton, Iowa
In this first project, we are nearing the completion the last of 8 vessels. The vessels,
26 feet in diameter and 110 feet tall, extended 59 feet above a pitched roof. To use
conventional tube and clamp scaffold would have involved as much as three weeks labor per
tank. But, by using the system pictured, the scaffold was moved from one vessel to the
next in one day. |

Sperry, Iowa
The project is to insulate a heat recovery duct for a large furnace used in the
manufacture of wallboard. The ductwork runs the full length of the production line, some
300 plus feet, with drops along the way at burner and fan locations. With back to back
elbows 10 feet in diameter and several square to round transitions, not to mention cutouts
for burner and fire damper locations, this was no easy task. All this was outdoors on a
new rubber roof that must be protected. |

Keokuk, Iowa
The site of a new coal fired steam plant.
This was a multimillion dollar project performed in one of the coldest Iowa winters in recent years.
This job involved a crew of up to 35 insulators over a six month period to complete with no recordable injuries or accidents.
The equipment to be insulated and lagged in this building ranged from the furnace body itself (25' x 36' x 150') to the cyclone
(27' x 105'), backpass (16' x 30' x 40'), economizer (16' x 30' x 40') and associated duct ranging from 7' x 7' to 36" square &
piping ranging from 1" to 24". The building was approximately 180 feet high which increased the difficulty due to the
staging of insulation and aluminum lagging for installation.

Iowa City, Iowa
Interior renovations to a chilled water plant.
Involved in this project were 2 new chillers 7’ diameter x 24’ in length, associated
compressors, pumps, chilled water piping ranging in size from 2-1/2” up to 36”, heating water,
plumbing, steam and steam condensate piping. Insulation and color coded jacketing had to be field
fabricated for all equipment including several 30” and 36” long radius elbows, valves and tees. |

The examples shown below are just a few of the many
projects we were proud to be associated with over the years....
Burlington,Iowa
New Medical Center This project involved the complete mechanical Insulation
for plumbing piping, heating and cooling piping, duct work and all associated equipment. |

Burlington, Iowa
New Elementary School This project involved the complete mechanical Insulation
for plumbing piping, heating and cooling piping, duct work and all associated equipment. On this project we also did all the
wall insulation.

All of this work is challenging for any contractor, but when the work has to
be done during one of the coldest Iowa winters on record with temperatures
as low as 15 below and wind chills well below that, the contractor's resources
and abilities are tested to the maximum. QCI Thermal Systems met the
challenge with highly skilled personnel who have committed themselves to
providing our clients we serve with the best results possible. That's
what drives all of us, "meeting the needs of our customers with the best",
but that's easy when all you have is
"The Best"...QCI Thermal Systems.
